Convocation
After having 3 bouts of hysteria during the month of May over whether I truly graduated or not (2 occurred in a dream and 1 was in reality), I finally received my diploma on June 4, 2004. Ask me about my bouts of hysteria - they're more hysterically funny when told in real life instead of reading it on a blog. A huge "Thanks" goes out to the friends and family who took the time to come out and watch me conclude my 4 year journey of university academia :) For those who couldn't make it but wanted to - thanks for being with me in spirit
So what now ?
Although as proud as I should be feeling, I continue to feel that graduating is only half the journey - the other half is to go out and start a career with it. A good part of my day this past month was spent applying for jobs and seeing what opportunities are lying out there for me. I'm also trying to help my parents and grandmothers with things at home. Integrating myself back into my Toronto life has been slow but enjoyable. I get to have my fill of bubble tea and sesame toast at Green Grove (aka the "Green Roof Place" as Karen, my brother and I so affectionately like to call it). Seeing old friends and meeting up with my mentor has proven that some friendships withstand the test of being "in and out of town" for 4 years. I registered for my Canadian Securities Course (CSC) just recently, which is something I'll need if I want to go into any position that requires a finance background. It's going to feel weird picking up a textbook and studying for an exam again (2 in this case). It's definately a license that I've been wanting to acquire for some time now. And if everything works out, hopefully I'll find a part-time office job on the side.
Regardless, I want to shout out that God has been MOST good - despite some events that I've caused in the last month that I'm not too proud of =T I just hope that things will work out. I'm starting to get back to Christian books that I've been putting off during the school year - really anxious to gain some more spiritual wisdom :) I'm also looking forward into re-integrating myself back into my home church. I really want to see where I can best serve at TCCC. There are definately a lot of things that I have to keep in mind whenever I pray. I have to remind myself that whatever I choose to do from here on, I'm going to try and determine if that's what God wants me to do.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
